The First Age

We all know something sleeps within humanity.  We eat up the legends: vampires, werewolves, superheroes.  We seek in dark theaters and we pour through boring tomes; and we secretly wonder if some sliver of the stories is real.  Legends are based on myth after all, and we don’t realize their origins have faded into time.

But time is not a black wasteland of questions.

Time is a wheel

A New Year's Day note

Looking back on the last year, I wanted to express a few things. First, I want to share my gratitude, humility and joy to have had the chance to meet all the players that now write for The First Age.

It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know each of you, and for my part, I am proud to count you among friends.

Second, I want to give an incredible round of applause to the writers that make the First Age a fun, witty, and competitive place to tell our collective stories. Not a day has passed since our grand opening that I haven't given some thought to what kind of plots we can stir up next for each other.

Finally, a tip of the hat needs to be given to the characters of the site. Born from your imaginations have come fun, talented, meaningful, and playful people in whose stories we are all invested in reading. So for this New Year's day, I look back on 2013 and say thank-you, and I know that we will only have more to look forward to in the year(s) to come.
