Hey all! Since linking has now been discovered, I thought it would be a good idea for use to have a thread where we could find all the linking rules. I did a lot of research to make it as accurate to the source material as I could, and I thought I'd save you guys the headache of finding all of this later. I felt this was the right section to put this thread in - if I didn't - mods feel free to move it

If you know anything that I forgot, please comment!

All these rules are from the Wheel of Time Companion:
1. Combined flow is not as great as the sum total of the individual flows - but it is more precise and has a far greater effect than the individual flows can
2. One person leads the circle.
3. Men cannot link their abilities without the presences of a woman or women in the circle
4. Up to thirteen women can form a circle without the presence of a man. Adding a man can extend this number by another thirteen up to the limit of six men and sixty six women (a total of seventy two).
5. There must be at least one more woman than men in a circle with the following exceptions.

One man and one woman

Two men and one woman

Two men and two women

6. In most circles men or women can lead with the following exceptions

Man has to control a link of 72 people

Man has to control the link in mixed circles of fewer than thirteen

7. Strongest circles contained as near as possible to equal numbers of men and women
8. Entering a link is usually a voluntary act, but under certain circumstances a sufficient circle could bring another woman in forcibly as long as no man is a part of it. Men cannot be forced into circles (I don't recall a woman being forced into a circle - but it was in the companion so I included it.)
9. Only the leader can release the link. (I didn't find this in the Companion, but I do remember reading it somewhere - can't recall where).

How A Link Is Formed
The woman initiating the link embraces saidar and the person being linked to prepares to embrace the source, but doesn't actually embrace it. Then the intiiating woman reached out to the other and open herself to the source through the person. It's the same way as using an angreal. Nynaeve describes it as embracing the source and angreal at the same time. I went to Winter's Heart to figure this out. When Rand and Nynaeve are linked to cleanse Saidin, Nynaeve comments on feeling Saidin and Rand can also feel Saidar, but her feeling seems to go away as he begins to channel the flows. He feels both while he is channeling and has to simultaneous fight Saidin while surrendering to Saidar. The two powers don't mix in this instance - they weave around each other. From Rand's POV, he sees Saidar as a "flowery weave" (Jordan's words). This leads me to believe that the leader can see the weaves of the opposite power they are channeling (must be able to see the weaves to channel). I don't think the others in the circle would see it, but they'd be able to see the weaves in their own half.
Thats all I found at this time - please let me know if I forgot something!

A couple of years ago, Asc and I were talking about prophecies in the WOT. It was one of the cooler elements of RJ's world building, giving hints to plot points or character arcs. We wanted to bring something like that to FA. I sent an email to many pcs asking if there was any prophetic imagery that they wanted to associate with their pcs. Many responded, but of course, I didn't keep track of who sent what. Moreover, many came from now inactive pcs.

So I am putting together a new list. This list will be for any prophetic character to use. For example, if Xander meets your pc, he might see elements from this list (should Nox decide to go that route.) Dreamers (like Thal) or Valeriya also may see some of them too.

And wolfkin might be able see visions like Perrin did. The sky opened up and he saw images of his friends or others. He's the only wolfkin we got a POV from. But it could have been Taveren too. Asc will need to weigh in here.

Currently, the active potentially prophetic pcs are:

Valeriya (Scryer)

Thalia Minton (Dreamer)

Xander (Min Auras)

Tenzin Dolma (Wolfkin)

Sierra Lupita (Wolflin)

Tristan Úlfarsson (Wolfkin)

Elyse Andersen (Wolfkin)

Calvin Johnson (Wolfkin)

Rowan Finnegan (Prophet)

Vena Shah (Prophet)

I will keep this list updated as needed.

Here are the prophecies so far. (I can pm the original list to you if you want to see if you recognize anything you wrote.) Keep in mind, we just need the character(s) the prophecy is associated with. You don't have to explain what they mean, especially if they refer to plot points in the future that you want people to RAFO. If you want to, though, that's fine.

To kick things off:

Twin serpents, identical battling, each other's tail in their mouths- Regus, Ascendancy

A living man in front of a tomb, seeking help from the dead- Regus

A man and woman amid ancient towering trees, blue and green eyes staring at something in their hands.- Regus, Valeriya
As forewarned, we are temporarily disabling posting rights on the forums for all members while we work on the site.
I am incredibly excited about this. I always dreamed of having a fully integrated site all under our umbrella web page. This will do great things for any future growth as well.

Greetings, all.

In the next few days, we will temporarily disable posting while forum migration takes place.

I will post another note immediately before posting is disabled to give you all a heads up. But wanted to make you aware that it is likely to happen in the nearish future.

Once all is back on, let's all give our great friend, Nox, lots of praise and adoration for the hard work being put into this process.
Thanks,
It seems that zetaboards and their parent company zathayus, have been acquired by Tapatalk. There will be a migration process to take place soon for our First Age forums. The following are some informational emails I have received about this process for those interested in the nitty gritty of the techy details.

In summary, here are some benefits to the migration to tapatalk:

Some of the benefits of the new platform include:

<li style="display:none">
</li>

Revenue Sharing of advertising revenue

Full mobile support including native iOS/Android App, a

responsive mobile theme as well as AMP support out of the box.

The option to accept donations for your forum

The option to Premium memberships to access designated forums

Single Sign-on support for multi forums.

Robust GDPR support for European Union visitors.

Enhanced spam detection and removal.
Please note this is only a beta testing site for ouroriginal forum. Changes made on this testing site will not impact our forum in production. Any changes made on this site will not be migrated in production migrations. Feel free to play around with the new set-up and send us feedback to support@tapatalk.com
Nitty gritty details:

Dear Zetaboard Admins,

As you might be aware Zetaboard is currently transitioning to Tapatalk Groups and you might have received a Site Preview invitation to test your forum on Tapatalk Groups.

To communicate the migration plan better, here is what we have done so far and the steps we will take to transition the entire Zetaboard forums to Tapatalk.

We’ve sent the Preview Invitation to all forums with more than 300 posts to preview the new site.

Active forums with less than 300 posts will soon receive our Preview Invitation email.

Today we have enabled CSS customization for all Zetaboard forums. If you have access to the Preview, you can now login to the your Tapatalk Groups as admin. In Manage Settings &gt; ACP, you will be able to further customize your forum including changing the look and feel, and more.

JavaScript availability is still pending but is progressing well. We want to assure you that if you are currently using the JavaScript insertion feature in Zetaboards, you will be able to do so in Tapatalk.

Forums that are not using CSS or JavaScript will soon be receiving the Production Migrations from us, with no less than 14 days after you received the Preview Invitation.

There are confusions among Zetaboard forum admins about certain features that are being grandfathered and how it works in long term since CSS, Custom Domain, Favicon and Javascript features are reserved for Basic or Premium Tier customers on the Tapatalk Groups. If your Zetaboard forum is already using certain features, the same features will be available for you in Tapatalk Groups free of charge, you will be able to make changes just like before and rest assured there will be no expiry date for the grandfathered features.

We also want to welcome you to the Tapatalk Groups - there are also features that you will be able to enjoy that were not available in Zetaboards, including the availability to Accept Donations from your members, to set-up Premium Memberships, to receive Advertising Revenue from our Revenue Share Program, Ability to Mass Email to all Members, and more.

We’re excited to have you onboard, and we are almost there.

Regards,

A fan term for Wilders in WoT has generally been that these people are "sparkers" - in that they are born with the spark to channel. At some point in their lives, they will channel whether they want to or not. If they don't control their abilities, the one power will kill them eventually. Otherwise they develop a block. These are the characters we have been allowed to play in the FA so far in the game.

Learners, on the other hand, are people who have the inborn ability to learn to channel. However unless someone guides them through the process, they will never do so on their own. There are many more "learners" in the world of the WoT in the books than sparkers. So far, in the FA game, we have not been allowed to "discover" that someone can learn to channel.

UNTIL NOW!!!

The game is now officially open to PC's "learning" to channel if they are "learners". Of course, you will need to RP out in a fairly realistic manner that PC's discover someone can in fact learn if they aren't born with the spark.

Of course the discovery that someone is a learner is different for men and women.

Men
In order to test if a man can learn to channel, the channeler forms a simple weave such as a little flame dancing in mid-air between them. The applicant concentrates on the flame and if the candidate can learn, a resonance is felt by the tester.

Women
In the testing to see if you can channel, a woman channels a simple weave and waits. Within five minutes if a woman has the spark, the candidate will try to channel the flow, and the test is confirmed. It takes longer for those who only can learn. However, a woman who has the spark can be detected by another female channeler without being tested.

Factoids:
*generally, Sparkers are stronger in the OP than learners
*there are many more Learners than Sparkers.
*A learner can learn at any age, however sparkers manifest in teens (women) and 20's (men) on average. If they haven't sparked by a certain age, they won't do so.

Have fun!

Who here would support that we give Kallisti it's own board?

I'm considering renaming Manifesto board to Kallisti and leaving the threads in it as-is.

But we could also just make a whole new Kallisti board. I can transfer all old kallisti-located posts into the new board so they are collected in the same space for continuity.

What do you guys suggest?
