Finally! The little imp stayed down. Adrik's staggered stabilized like a towering guard looming over the lump that was Thalia. "Look! I don't want anything from you but information. We're looking for a girl. We know you know her. Rune Marx. About eighteen, bright hair, lots of makeup." He shoved the picture previously shown under Thalia's face. "Where do I find her? How do you contact her?" Adrik's chest heaved as he regained his breath, forcing himself to ignore the pain throbbing through his head.
Information...? Her brows knit together, though she remained huddled where she had fallen from the blow.
"You broke into my home for information?"
A current of anger lit the words. Disbelief. Hefty suspicion, obviously. A normal person would have just asked, via normal channels, and god knows she might have thought nothing of it. She glanced at the photograph. Her cheek throbbed. Reluctance and fear warred. She shifted up her legs, made herself small.
What has Rune done? Thalia didn't want to be involved, and if some part of her did not want to betray the girl, another part was angry that Rune had brought this down on her. He'd broken into her
home.
Assaulted her. She was never going to feel safe here again.
"I don't,"
she said eventually.
"She's an old client. I haven't see her since."
Truth. She'd thought they might become friends, but Rune had disappeared entirely, and until now Thalia had barely thought on it. She blinked wide eyes, recoiled slightly as though anticipating further threats.

((I forgot in that last post that this guy isn't suppose to know Rune's name. I blame Thal for dragging this out so long that I've lost all sense of direction. *Shakes fist.))
Beneath the shadows drenching Adrik's face was a look of puzzlement. How else were they suppose to get information out of someone? He shrugged. "Hey babe, I'm not in charge of this operation. Just here for the job." Her answer wasn't exactly what he was needing to hear.
Thalia was being completely unreasonable, and Adrik's impatience grew. So he thrust out a hand, but didn't actually approach her again. "Give me--" he started to demand her wallet, but his own buzzed in his pocket. Amazing it hadn't been smashed in the fall. He fumbled it out, and held it up to eye level so he could see her and the screen at the same time. His expression fell flat.
The job was called off. "Looks like its your lucky day. I'll let myself out." He slid around her and made for the door.
