- Camila - 03-31-2015 Some Americans had a tendency to sound patronizing with every word. Apparently, Jessika was of that particular sort. No matter, Camila thought, there was little reason for her to become offended by the woman. In her eyes, it simply wasn’t worth the trouble this once. Amused, she closed the decanter and sat it down on the desk before lifting her glass. “He appears to be acquainted with some rather,” pausing for a second, she searched around for an appropriate word to use in English that wouldn’t offend the prim and proper Jessika Thrice, “unsavory characters. You see, it appears that he has some links to the cartels. Apparently human trafficking is the order of business.” Bile threatened to make its way back up from her stomach and she forced it down with a sip from her glass. “I don’t suppose that’s something your voters would care much for. Oh, he doesn’t get his hands dirty himself, of course, but the money is tied to him.” Carefully, Camila studied the other woman’s reaction to all she was disclosing. “The Cartels are paid to bring in people across the border. Then your…friend… appears to be paying them to turn in that same unfortunate lot. Your border-hoppers are then stopped before ever actually making it through. The Cartels make double the profit, and your opposition looks good in the eyes of the American people. Now, should this come out and become public knowledge, it’s not likely to help his campaign. Yours, however, could profit quite nicely.” Edited by Camila, Mar 31 2015, 01:13 AM. - Jensen James - 04-01-2015 Jessika was attentive before, but once Camila began to explain, she was focused like a hound on a fox. The governor of Texas was involved in human trafficking. Until the bigger picture became clear, a knot wrenched her gut, as she had immediately pictured the trafficking of children. This it seemed involved illegal aliens. They were promised safe smuggling across the border, then caught at the last moment. The cartels made money off the poor souls they swindled and the Governor earned higher approval ratings for his tough campaign on aliens. It made Jessika sick. The nausea subsided and she quickly slipped into gubernatorial mode herself. The implications of all this was staggering. How to use it against the governor? Exposing him may or may not be the best strategy. Then there was the motivation behind Damien sharing this information with her to consider. He wanted the current governor deposed, apparently, or else he wanted an unstable Texas if he were simultaneously working against Jessika so that neither of them won the upper hand in the race. She wouldn't put it past him. An unstable Texas made a stable Mexico look all the better. Perhaps he wanted Jessika to win and make good on her promise to leave the USA. Well, the motive didn't matter. Jessika had no skeletons in her closet to expose, except her husband's of course. "Thank you for this information my dear. I will see that it is used in the best of capacities. Is that all? Or do we have other business to attend?" She wasn't ignorant. She assumed Damien was not offering this information out of the kindness of her heart, but the cat was out of the bag. Who knew if Jessika would be compliant now? - Camila - 05-22-2015 Laughing softly, she shook her head and gently twirled the glass in her grasp. “Dear? Please, spare me… I’m not much for false pleasantries, but yes, we are done. Consider me that little bird that passes on some interesting news then flies off.” The brunette remained casual, almost disinterested now that the ball appeared out of her hands. “It’s up to you to do as you wish. I do, however, trust that a woman of your intellect makes the best use of it. It would be a shame to see the best of your capacities fall short of the mark. Enjoy the rest of your day, the men outside will escort you out.” The dismissal was rather obvious, and as if to emphasize her point, Camila took a sip of her drink before settling it back on the desk. With the American seemingly no longer on her mind, Camila turned towards the side door Damien had previously used, and made her exit. Edited by Camila, May 22 2015, 01:17 PM. |
