He seemed amenable enough to the suggestion, if a little unsure, or perhaps disinterested. Surveillance wasn’t an obstacle, given both his environment and all the documents Victor had had him sign, but a Luma would nonetheless provide valuable insight into his state of mind. Most people could not help but treat the technology as a friend, divulging things they might never otherwise. Adam seemed honest and straightforward, so it wasn’t a concern as such. But he was also a weapon, and Ephraim would always be careful with those.
“Then I’ll arrange it, and we’ll see how you get on,” he said, accepting the bottle. He was heedful to keep the movement natural, but he did marvel at the dexterity of the limb and its movements. Victor had a poor grasp of aesthetics, but his gift for cybernetics was nothing short of remarkable.
Talk of the future galvanised Adam more than discussing potential remedies for his deficiencies. That was useful to observe, and was something Ephraim could use in the future. “When Dr. Forrer believes the prototypes are ready for testing, we will do so. I will speak to him, confirm the timeline. I would like to be there, if I may, Adam, at least for the first time. And you’ll forgive the layman’s understanding, but the initial tests will be to analyse how well the implants have taken – make sure they are functioning as intended. Speed, strength, dexterity. I think you will enjoy the challenge.”
