Nika acquiesced finally with a nod and sent a ‘thank you’ after their retreating server. She’d known what she was going to order before she arrived but looked over the menu regardless to keep from staring moon-eyed at Liv. At the other woman’s comment, she turned in her seat to review the weather screen.
Serious-looking radar projections seemed to indicate the city was in for it over the coming days. Nika was as indifferent to inclement weather as inclement weather was indifferent to her. Besides, her week’s to-do list was already quite long. Wait, Liv wasn’t already prepared? It’s winter in Moscow!
Nika turned back around even as she expelled the thought from her mind. “I’ve got an appointment tomorrow in Spain if you don’t want to deal with it.” She shrugged casually. “You’re welcome to come along.” The talking head on the screen was listing school closures. “Afterward we could have tapas and check out the Picasso Museum if you’d like.” She did some quick maths. “Probably have you home by ten or so?” Nika made a note to pick up her all-terrain from the shop.
