Forum sub-boards? - Ascendancy - 04-05-2025 So question for you all: Do the forums need more sub-boards? The general moscow board gets so busy with a lot of threads. Do we need to make location-specific boards? Or rearrange in another way? Thoughts? Ideas? RE: Forum sub-boards? - Giovanni - 04-06-2025 A sub boards for the greater Moscow boards might be helpful. You could do the different districts or categories like “food” “shopping” “industrial” “entertainment” Idk what exactly - but it might be good for the greater Moscow board. RE: Forum sub-boards? - Thalia - 04-06-2025 I think sub boards for some of the larger, more popular locations within the greater Moscow board would be helpful. Especially plot heavy locations, so everything is grouped together (makes it easier to find old stuff, though Nox's wiki story gizmo is great for that too). The Sanctuary, definitely. The carnival maybe. Possibly Nox's house lol. Natalie's school would be another candidate, when it gets going. The nightlife board is fine as is for all club related stuff imo (and currently Kallisti spans two boards anyway, depending on whether the thread is when the club is open or not). Depending on how the different atharim faction plots play out, I wonder about a specific HQ board on the enlightenment forum too. RE: Forum sub-boards? - Tatyana - 04-06-2025 I was thinking maybe Thal's idea too - sub forums for places that are regular spots. Nox's house should have a subforum for sure ![]() RE: Forum sub-boards? - Nox - 04-06-2025 I'm gonna be honest the idea of sub forms is not something I like. I hate going into a sub forum from the main page, and reading a thread and then still having the parent forum marked as unread even though I read it. it's annoying. I don't think Nox's place needs it's own board. there is nothing in the red light district except it and kallisti and hayden's new bar. Not enough to warrant a board specially when the red light district that isn't used for anything else. Maybe if Kallisti still had it's night life still on it... maybe. Breaking up Greater Moscow board yeah we could probably do that and make that board a bit cleaner but and easier to find things. But I don't really know how that would best be implemented. There is a tag system we could use to help with locations if we had a list of them we could add them and use them for Locations. RE: Forum sub-boards? - Ascendancy - 04-09-2025 Here are some options: Option 1 The guardian, Market, and university are rarely used boards. Those could be nestled into sub-boards under the general moscow area, and as they are rarely used, they wont often appear as unread posts for Nox (I think...). But this option doesn't address the primary issue of de-cluttering the General Moscow board. Option 2 Move the threads from the guardian, market, and university beneath the general Moscow board as in option 1. Then replace those three boards with 3 new ones. (not sure what they would be at this point-perhaps the 3 discussed in the next option). Option 3 Remove nothing but instead add new board options to reflect common locations. For instance,
Option 4 Rather than arrange boards as locations, they could be arranged by thread theme. For instance, rather than a downtown board, there could be a board for characters' Personal Residences, Industrial Districts, Huntings, etc. Other notes:
RE: Forum sub-boards? - Thalia - 04-09-2025 My only problem with downtown, midtown etc is that you still have to figure out which board a place is in. Though there's no reason a pinned post with a description and list of popular locations wouldn't work. Downtown is an Americanism, if that matters (it might not). I had to google exactly what you meant. I quite like option 4, or at least a personal residences one somewhere Admittedly, when I'm looking for a thread, I go through my char profile and look for their last post lol. I rarely navigate through the boards, and only need to use the different forums when figuring out where to post something. RE: Forum sub-boards? - Nox - 04-09-2025 Nox's house is in the Red Light District so Nox's house. It's two 'doors' down from Kallisti. The Carnival is with in walking distance of the Red Light District. (I has a map ![]() And the Red Light District (specifically Kallisti) is with in walking distance of the Red Square and the Kremlin as Ori wanted Kallisti to be right in their 'view'. I like the idea of having 'categories of play' but I think it might be more confusing location wis Outside Town sounds like a good board to have. The more and more I think about it I think I really like the idea of the "Action/Location" of the thread. Nightlife could become Entertainment - and the Carnival could go here Market could become Commerce District - and all shopping could go here I think it does mostly anyway so leaving it The Market is probably fine. Residential for all the 'personal homes of peoples' and probably should encompass the hotels so something better than residental. Residential and Hospitality. Government Facilities to include the Guardian (and the detention center) The Suburbs for outside of Moscow Though I don't think we have many threads there. I think breaking the residences should go a long way in helping out the greater moscow board. I was thinking maybe you could break it up into quadrants? Or maybe the rings of Moscow? (And I'll survive if you make sub forums, they just annoy me) RE: Forum sub-boards? - Nox - 04-09-2025 Thal posted before I finished my post so I didn't see hers. I don't have issues either, I use the Search feature to see all the posts in order of last dates to find things I'm missing. Or what I'm looking for. (for reference, I just click Search, scroll to the bottom and click Search button and it gives me a list of all posts in order of last post date for the thread) RE: Forum sub-boards? - Thalia - 04-09-2025 I use the search function too, to see what new posts there are. Just the char profile for quickly finding which thread I'm writing in. Or going through them all to see what I owe lol. |
