For some reason a spike of fear lanced through her stomach at Ten's words- and she didn't have a clue why. All thoughts of opening up and sharing her story with her sister flew out the window and she was suddenly in hunter mode, listening, assessing, replaying everything that had happened.
Things were off here. What it was, she couldn't put a finger on. The Inquisitor had completely changed the moment the woman showed. Jacinda's hand still felt the impact of hitting the women's face. Likely her cheek would show a bruise in a few hours. She'd assumed they were lovers. Now she reassessed.
She looked at Ten, mistrust in her eyes. Not for Ten. Never her. For the situation. Was this how it felt to have a partner? She knew Ten could take care of herself. Competent and not prone to anything rash. She'd never had this problem before. She trusted people to do their job if they had proven trustworthy. But that wasnt what was going on here.
She released a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and nodded. Ten didn't need her permission. Still, she tentatively touched her hand. Nox might be in fighting mode. And there was something off here. Still looking at Ten, she spoke to the Inquisitor. "You got a wire or any kind of audio equipment she can wear? If Durante decides to go all god mode, we may have little time to react."
She spoke about Durante. But her mind kept going to the woman in the front seat.
