Ghost of Time
#8
She couldn't help it. Nika's smile was just so cute. Her eyes even smiled. And those dimples....She had to force herself to step back. They had gone on a few dates. Sure, they had a spark. But that might just be momentary. Just because the feel of Nika's arms aroun her made the butterflies in her stomach didn't mean she should throw caution to the wind.

They sat and she tried to avoid too much eye contact. She fidgeted with her silverwair and napkin, trying to figure out how to start. Nika saved her, though it didn't necessarily mean she could relax. She was apologetic about having been incommunicado for so long. Part of her wanted to brush it off as nothing- they had no obligations to each other. But part oof her needed this. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was Laila and her refusal to ever be responsible for anything in their relationship. Maybe.

It was unfair to Nika, though. Make her grovel just to prove she wasn't a manipulative user like Laila. Didn't that make her the same? So no. She did follow her instinct.

She smiled weakly and said [color=green"It's ok, Nika. I mean you don't owe me anything."[/color] The server came and she ordered a drink- a long Island. She needed something to help her along. After she left, Liv touched the cool glass of water the server had brought when she first came, feeling the cool wet on her finger. Without looking directly at her, she asked " Can you talk about your trip? Or race, I guess?" It didnt seem like it was some big secret or anything. "Did anything bad happen?"
