Deflating the Ruse
#11
Sage frowned at Nox. He'd been hurt and from the looks of him he'd been out in the sun too long. Sage hated liars. FINE DON'T TELL ME THE TRUTH, LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN HAVE A GREAT TIME AT THE POOL.

Sage was almost of the half mind to let Nox dangle from his own cord. But he was serious and Sage had only met the girl in brief passing he didn't want have anything to do with her, and Nox hadn't wanted anyone else near her. Dangerous wasn't the word for her.

Nox shifted closer after he'd read the message. He sat down in the chair beside Sage's bed and frowned at him. "Why would I lie? Why would I sit pool side when someone's trying to kill me? Why would I build walls to keep people safe?"

"Focaxauso ug axalo paxalaxaneid!
Sage growled hearing his own voice and sent the same thing to his wallet again. BECAUSE YOU ARE PARANOID!

Nox gave him a wry grin. It was such a cute expression that Sage almost lost his anger at his friend - or his friends little brother. It was hard to believe Aurora was gone. There was an extra sadness to Nox. He was missing Aurora now... Sage knew one thing, and that Nox had made Aria a promise. They'd talked long about Aurora and family and his promise.

Sage was in the middle of following Voxel around and oddly enough he'd been caught doing so. He used it to his advantage and made a friend in the process. Carrying on two conversations wasn't easy. But Nox let him alone when he was busy. He sat and watched him. It made him nervous wondering what Nox was thinking. He sent him a message and opened his eyes and spoke gibberish. "Jex. Reet axat zo vossaxago.

Sage was drifting out while he worked. It was odd watching him with his computing power a thought away again. He'd gotten use to having him actually looking at him when he was talking to him, or at least knowing he was busy typing away staring at his laptop. Now he zoned... was gone.

Nox let him do his thing. He hadn't agreed, but he hadn't told him to fuck off either. It gave Nox a chance to think about what had happened. He wasn't typically shy but Sage was making him uncomfortable. And what was with the gibberish?

Sage's voice drew Nox from his own thoughts so he looked down at the wallet which had a much longer message than what Sage had said. Nox chuckled, Sage had only spoken to get his attention. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? I'LL GIVE YOU ARIA'S COORDINATES IF AND ONLY IF YOU TELL ME.

Nox sighed. They had to talk about it sometimes. "You make me nervous and I'm never nervous around girls."

NOTHING HAS CHANGED. I'M THE SAME. YOU ARE THE SAME.

Nox shrugged. "This is weird ya know. But everything's changed for me, Sage. Not just finding out I've been repressing feelings. Funny thing, Aurora's talking to me in my head. And I'm starting to talk back to her now."

SO, WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO ABOUT ALL THIS CHANGE?

Nox stood up with a grin. "First things first, but I need to take Aria out. Orders and all that. After that, I'll let you know."

IF THAT'S SECOND, WHAT'S FIRST?

Nox took a step and closed the distance and leaned down and pressed his lips against Sage's.

Sage's breath caught as Nox's lips touched his. There was a rush of information that Sage stored in the simple kiss. The way he tasted. The feel of his lips. The visuals of him pressing his lips against his. Memories were different when you could store precise information. Relive the whole thing.

Nox pulled away with a smirk on his lips but Sage grabbed his hoodie and pulled him down again and made more of the simple kiss he'd been given. It was hard and hot and wet and he wanted to feel... Sage growled and pushed Nox away. Ke pe yeep zick fobelo Pum taxako yeep crethos ebb!
Sage's fingers lingered on his arm as Nox stepped away with a curious look on his face. Sage wondered if Nox was playing with him. Giving him what he desired only to yank it away. Sage knew this wasn't going to be a relationship. There would be no flowers and romance. But from the glint in his friends eye there might be sex in their future. Sage could live with that.

Nox was walking out but Sage remembered something. "Jex!"

Nox turned around with a chuckle. "You need to complain about the services here. They suck!"

Sage held up his wallet to Nox so he could read the text. GO HERE AND GET A NEW WALLET. IT'LL BE WAITING AND LOADED OR LOADING THE THINGS YOU NEED. I'LL TEXT IF HER DIRECTIONS CHANGE.

Nox grinned. "Thank you. I'll see you around, Sage."
He winked and turned around and laughed chuckling to himself. Sage should consider the change in demeanor of his friend, but Nox never was shy. He accepted who he was, why should that be any different. But Sage knew he was going to crash and burn on this one. Just like Elyse did.
