Scion Marveet
Some time following the events of Saving Jay and concurrent with the conclusion of Duality.
Scion was neither a fan of hot weather nor of hot-blooded Americans. As he was a fan of his life and position, he was enduring both for the sake of holding onto these prizes. Ascendancy had a plan, and if it was to unfurl as intended, Scion would do better than retain what he already possessed. Both position and life may be elevated. He just needed to not kill any of the irritating twats in his company. Sounded simple enough.
Both parties spoke English – himself as well as the blonde woman that thought quite mightily of herself. Yet the twang in her accent was almost indistinguishable to the ears of a Russian born man old enough to remember the Cold War.
She was easy on the eye, but unpalatable for Scion. Vena was a thousand times the woman that this girl pretended to be. Yet clearly she was accustomed to using her ample appearance to get her way. Spoiled brat. To even comprehend that someone like him would have to defer to her as a Dominance Patron was laughable. It made his task in Texas all the easier.
“Governor Thrice, I am a reasonable man, but the Ascendancy is not someone to play this game with. The alliance is threatened. I have been informed that our mutual friend was at the scene of the lab when it was destroyed. You must realize how bad this looks for you.”
