Things escalated faster than she could think. Dragged from the area kicking was no use. Zef wanted to take advantage of the situation take the channeler by surprise. But the shit hit the fan. He threw more of the power at them. But the sounds of death echoed from the way they'd come. Their captor released them and turned back their direction he wasn't going to kill them. It was confusing but the sounds of death and creatures dying drove Zef towards the sound -- gods be damned.
Zef looked back at Grym. "I don't run from battle -- even if it is with traitors and gods."
Zef rushed forward drawing her crossbow and releasing the safety as she pulled into view. It took only moments to take in the carnage, but what caught her most was the glowing red grate of fire slicing the creatures into pieces as more poured through the sides and openings large enough. The boy god she'd come for knelt on the ground he grimaced in pain and concentration. She didn't know what he was doing, but he wasn't paying attention two creatures bore down fast on him as one of the other man watched as they slipped past his defenses. Even among the gods there were traitors among themselves.
The inquisitor stood staring into the abyss like an awestruck coward, or maybe awestruck was the only word needed. He was close to the creatures, he took his handgun and shot a single creature in the head at near point blank range. It thudded to a halt but the echo of the gun shot range through all their ears. Poor choice -- but with limited resources you did what you had to do. The second of the two creatures bore down on the boy and Zef aimed and took shot. The bolt wizzed by the boys head and landed dead in the eye socket of the rat like creature and fell dead moments away from biting the boys fingers clenched in the ground.
He looked back at Zef and gave her a nod in thanks but continued whatever thing he was doing. He looked pained, but there were more creatures pouring through. Zef loaded another bolt and continued to snipe off the ones that got past.
