Anna took the card from the detective. He probably thought they were nuts or on drugs or something. It was a monster - not a person. Not that they had said that. Anna thought Cade hadn’t put it together yet, or was perhaps trying to logically think of what they saw, but Anna knew. Elyse had told her what she did. Elyse had hunted monsters.
Cade put a reassuming arm around her and led her away from the scene. Anna kept her arms by her side, feeling a desire to step her own arm around him, but conflicted with the idea of not making him uncomfortable with the gesture. She wouldn’t have meant it in an intimate way, but being held felt good.
Anna took a bit before she answered. ”Im okay. Still feeling a bit shaken,” she said, her voices contemplative and quiet. ”I don’t know about browsing either. Don’t want to be alone though. I’m a bit scared right now. I saw her die. One moment her eyes were bright and the next…just gone. It’s probably crazy and doesn’t make sense, but that scared me more than the monster did.”
