The page went off and as with any death a statement had to be taken. Marisol responded, but noticed another detective had gotten here first. This was a routine questioning. It would be over and done. Marisol was about to leave, but then the witness grabbed the detective.
The hair on her neck raised. That was an odd response to something like this. She had to assume the man was innocent, even if now she believed there was more at play. His instincts screamed that this wasn’t routine. No matter what though, SOPs* stated that if a witness was hostile, you had backup. Marisol was dimuty bound to stay.
She approached and gave the other detective a nod as she took her position. She wouldn’t ask questions. She was his backup. There was a woman with the witness - clearly distressed. Marisol stood, her stance defensive and her position straight from academy - the witness was hostile.
