We Shall Be Monsters [Paragon]

Mr. Haart entered quickly and took a seat. He didn't answer right away. The question in many ways had caught him off guard. Mr. Haart had always been less formal than the others. Victor only asked him about how the implants were working or if he was feeling anything. Pain he never felt, but occasionally he'd feel pressure such as in the case of his newest implant. He certainly never asked how he was doing. And his commanders had always expected the soldier's answer.

It was enough to get Adam to look over his shoulder, allowing himself to see his guest and his guest to see his profile. "I'm alright, I suppose," he said, not really a lie, but not exactly the truth either. Physically he felt fine. He felt better than he had in a long time. Socially and emotionally, he felt drained though. He had an idea of what the issue was. "Would you like a drink. I don't have much here and most of it is full of sugar, but you're welcome to one." Adam didn't know if Mr. Haart had been informed of why he needed so much sugar.

Adam moved over to where his current bottle of Coke was and took a deep drink, finishing it. "Physically, I'm fine. Except for..." he faced him straight on and gestured at his face. "Other than that," he shrugged and ran a metallic hand through his hair. "Guess it can get lonely around here." Not that there was anything to be done about that. He understood the need for solitude. He was a secret project. but it was trued enough that he'd gone from being in a unit to a solitary agent.
Intelligence is knowing Frankenstein wasn’t the monster; Wisdom is knowing Frankenstein was the monster.
