A Quiet Christmas (Paragon)
#2
Adam was laying down in bed quietly. Today was Christmas. The first one since the operations. Holidays had never been a big deal growing up. Both Victor and Elizabeth had been stoic, though he usually got a gift from Elizabeth on Christmas and his birthday which happened to be six a week away. That had changed upon enlisting in the military. The base usually had some sort of celebration with a gift exchange. As Adam had told L0-9, he had found a family with his unit.

This year he was utterly alone.

There wasn’t much to do. Mr. Haart wouldn’t stop in today. No one would be here. They’d all be home celebrating. Adam found little to celebrate. He didn’t even make a special meal or anything. He didn’t turn on the TV or put on music. It wasn’t the complete depression he had been in before. It was just a quiet day until L0-9 broke the silence.

Adam almost jumped in surprise. Adam had expected L0-9 to make an appearance today, but not so excitedly. The melancholy went away as he sat up. He felt excited for L0-9. Hopefully her and her friend would have a good holiday.

”I’m glad to hear that, L0-9,” he said with sincere joy. ”Is she okay?” Adam guessed from L0-9’s excitement that she couldn’t have been in too bad of shape. At the very least she was okay.
Intelligence is knowing Frankenstein wasn’t the monster; Wisdom is knowing Frankenstein was the monster.
