Adam listened in quiet contemplation. Interpreting L0-9’s silences was a learning experience. Even though he had expected a disappointing holiday, L0-9’s words filled Adam with warmth. He was glad to help and that whoever the mystery woman was was feeling okay. His word helped more than he knew. That meant a lot.
”One of these days, I’ll figure out how to read your silences, L0-9,” he said, humor coating his tone. ”Im glad that what I said helped. Please tell her that. That I’m glad that what I said mattered.”
Adam contemplated her next words - that fear doesn’t make people leave. He looked at his cybernetic hand. Besides the scars it was the most visual part of him that showed what he was. It certainly was the most obvious one too. The scarring could have been for multiple reasons. The arm was clearly an implant. He thought of the woman who had snuck into his room and then left in horror. His experience had said otherwise, but one person was hardly an accurate representation of everyone. He understood that, even if he wasn’t ready to believe it.
He turned to L0-9, remaining quiet for a few moments before responding. ”I’ll try to remember that, but it might be some time before I believe it.” the words came out softly and with care. Still there was a slight shift in his posture. He was trying to believe it. He wanted to believe it.
L0-9 occasionally left clues. Adam wasn’t sure if this was on purpose or on accident. That she knew of his constraints likely meant she worked for Paragon, or, like him, was an experiment. He wondered which one it was, or if he wasn’t even correct in those assumptions. Asking L0-9 would get no answers. It wasn’t something he begrudged. L0-9 had to protect her privacy as well.
He felt like he wanted to say more and he considered, but he wasn’t sure what to say with regards to it. ”I want to say more, but I don’t know what,” he finally admitted to L0-9. With that he stood up and retrieved a beverage from his fridge before laying back on the bed. Adam wasn’t sure directly talking to her, but it was nice to talk with someone - even through a mediator.

Intelligence is knowing Frankenstein wasn’t the monster; Wisdom is knowing Frankenstein was the monster.
