Emergency!! [Semi-Closed - Various Locations]
#2
It was one call after another. Some were your standard calls, but more of them were actual emergencies. Antonin was a regular for them. He had fallen and couldn’t get up. Thankfully a family member had come to stay with him. He wouldn’t have to be alone in the snowstorm.

As it had been all day, they got back into the ambulance with another page. When shit hit the fan, it went everywhere. Middle age male - possible heart attack. Yuri, the driver, got to work right away. Anita took the trip to drink a bottle of water. Call after call was beginning to take its toll, and a heart attack was likely to exacerbate that.

The roads were getting worse. Right now, the plows were keeping up with the main thoroughfares, but barely. Yuri kept to the main roads. Had it been a normal time, it would take him longer by this route, but if he didn’t go this way, he chances getting stuck. That was a chance they couldn’t take.

They arrived. A man was providing chest compressions to the victim. He had even attached an AED. As she approached the AED intoned. ”Ready to shock. Please take your hands off the victim. Administer shock.”

It was cardiac arrest, not a heart attack, but to the average person it was the same. Yuri switched out the leads for the AED to there machine while Anita started chest compressions. Ivan brought out the cot with a back board to get the patient onto it. They shifted the victim with a practiced ease. Anita continued compressions as they moved back into the ambulance. She continued as Ivan used the bag valve mask to administer two breaths for every thirty compressions. Anita kept working, but she wasn’t sure he was going to make it as she handed him over to hospital staff.
