Finding my footing
#8
Rachel smiled and her eyes brightened as she faced Aine, her former melancholy diminishing at the mention of her magic. It was always something that cheered her up. It was a reminder of when things started to go better for her. It was prudent to be careful and Rachel was sure that Aine had been. Aine had looked around to see if they were alone first. Anyone could be Atharim. Rachel wasn't as worried about it because she was under Nox's protection, but that was something Aine didn't have. But Rachel could always use more friends, and this was a way to connect.

"Not overstepping at all. Not very long - since Christmas Eve," she said, her tone brighter now. "Truth be told, I'm not very good at it. I sometimes still struggle with embracing it, but it's getting easier."

Rachel closed her eyes and took a breath as she reached for it again, finding it easily this time. The air around her suddenly felt colder and the sounds of campus echoed in her ears as she opened her eyes again. "Emily, that's my sister, helps as much as she can. She's pretty good with it." Rachel didn't feel bad about mentioning Emily. Emily didn't hide the use of her power. She and Jared had both used it at their wedding and on top of that, Emily was in the public sphere.

"I found it when I was dealing with some after effects of my addiction. Withdrawals and what not," even though Rachel was delving into darker territory, he voice remained peppy. "I've been told my method for figuring it out though was different. No sickness for me," She smiled brightly. Rachel had never gotten sick due to her magic, and from what she knew, she was one of very few who hadn't.  She might even be the only one. "How about you? What's your story?"
