Rachel awoke later than she usually did. She hadn't been at Belizna long, but she was doing what she could to help Natalie as was her job now. She liked it here, even though there weren't many people here. The place was coming together though, and Rachel was happy to be a part of it. She hadn't spent much time using magic yet, but she was still practicing when she could. She spent some time in her room briefly working on it. She did simple work, finding the power, embracing it, and then lighting a candle on her table. It didn't work so well today. She didn't know why. Maybe her focus was off.
Rachel got dressed. She knew other people were here. Natalie and her boyfriend Jay. She didn't know Jay well. She had only met him once at Emily and Jared's wedding reception and that was a brief meeting before he had some sort of breakdown. Rachel could sympathize with that even if she didn't know what exactly happened. Rachel had given him and Natalie space, doing her work and asking Natalie what she could do to keep busy, but her presence wasn't a cold one. She was always polite when she saw them, greeting with a wave or smile. She didn't mind doing the unwanted work and if she didn't know what to do, she found something to clean, staying out of the way of those doing construction work or what not.
She wore warm clothing. It was still fairly cold in and outside of the building, and she wasn't good enough with the power to put some sort of heating thing around her. Apparently Nox could do that, but it seemed like he could do anything. Rachel was lucky enough to make a spark or a small breeze. She had faith it would come though.
As she descended to the breakfast room, Rachel could smell coffee. Oh, Natalie or Jay must be down here, she thought as she came into the room and found instead a complete stranger. The man was taller than Rachel by a few inches, had a prominent jawline with a muscular build. He was also incredibly attractive, well dressed, and stood with a bearing that Rachel recognized from those who had come from wealth. She noticed he prominently wore a signet ring on his right hand.
If the man had access to the castle, it was likely he wasn't someone who shouldn't be here. Rachel knew Natalie had some wealthy investors and perhaps this was one of them. She still felt a slight pang of fear as she saw the man, not exactly because she didn't know him, but because of her experiences with Lucio Pirrozzi. By reflex, she tried to reach for her power, not that she'd be able to do anything with it, but amidst the fear, she found nothing there.
Rachel swallowed and went through a brief exercise to calm down before she spoke. "Ummm...sorry," she said, clearly attempting and failing to hide the small bit of fear that had arose. "I hope I'm not interrupting...just...breakfast..." she looked away from the man, a little embarrassed. "Ummm...would you like more coffee or some food?" Truth be told, Rachel wasn't sure what to do at this point, but she was willing to serve.
