Marta silently kept working at chopping veggies for breakfast. She had offered to help, and her offer was a genuine one. She would help, but that meant opening up those memories again. That was in itself scary, so Marta became uncharacteristically quiet and focused on her work as she prepared for it. She knew was she was going to cry and it eventually started. Marta just let it happen eventually finishing and setting the knife down on the cutting board. She moved close to Sterling and rested her head on her shoulder, sniffling quietly as she did.
”Ill be okay,” she said. It wasn’t a lie. ”Just preparing.”
Marta focused on her breath, moving through her calming exercises. ”Helping requires opening the wounds again.”
All in all, it wasn’t as bad as it always was. That meant she was healing. That made her a little happy. ”I need some help. Tell me that I can do this.” she said, her gaze turning to all the others in the room. There encouragement should make it work.
