Itching for a Hunt
#26
Ricky smirked as he began to cook a couple of burgers on the fire. "Yeah, it was the same in Mexico. Kill the thing in the contract and then celebrate with some tequila. Here it's so much paperwork." He shook his head and sighed. "When we first moved here, I quit hunting for a bit - became a pencil pusher for awhile. So much fucking paperwork."

Doing the book work had been a pain and Ricky had hated it. It wasn't his type of work.  He preferred action, but fear had kept him from the hunt. Fear not for himself, but for Marta.  If he was gone, what would happen to her? He'd have to work something out.

His wallet beeped and Ricky raised a finger to excuse himself. Marta had sent him and Elyse  a text to their group chat. She said she couldn't keep herself from not fighting back against the cartels. It included a link and Ricky checked it seeing the posts she had done. Oracle. Ricky actually smiled in pride.  She was fighting in her own way. It also explained why she wanted computer parts.

Proud of you chica...just be careful. he sent back.

Ricky flipped the burgers. "Yeah, out here - you can forget about the political bullshit. Might have to bring Marta out here - girl is good with a bow and not bad with guns either.  Might be fun to take her on a hunt. Not a monster one - just a normal one."
