Radio Silence (Abandoned industrial district)
#39
There it was. Zholdin hadn't flinched when Giovanni had attacked him, but as soon as Limon was on the line, he changed. His words bore the fires of rage. Then Giovanni felt it. The feeling of danger resonating from another male channeler. It was a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. He hadn't been around too many of them lately - at least while they were actively channeling.

Farther... Giovanni thought - a silent encouragement for Zholdin that surprised even Giovanni.

Then it happened. Zholdin exercised his power. Waves of spirit dispersed the ball of electricity. Giovanni relaxed his grip on the men, and lowered Zholdin back to the ground, but didn't release their bonds yet. Zholdin's laugh was triumphant. He felt it and knew it was real.

Giovanni first turned towards Grym, on the edge of her seat watching disapprovingly. "Smile, Grym," he said, the irony not lost on him. "You just witnessed the birth of a god."

He then let the bonds of the gopniks and Zholdin go, releasing them from his grasp. He kept the power ready, just in case. He was ready to respond should they decide to retaliate. His gaze turned to Zholdin. "Welcome godhood, Zholdin Gregorovich. It is glorious, isn't it?," he said. "You should have a feeling of malice that seems to emanate from my being. You'll feel that any time a man around you is holding their power. Oh...and that's two you owe me." He waited, the power radiating from him. He didn't think the underlings would go after him on their own - they would act with Zholdin's guidance, but he kept his mind on the Atharim too. She was surely plotting something.
