Sebastian House
#1
Amongst the skyscrapers, of Moscow lay his brother/father whom he found out most recently that his little brother was in town. Though Hayden was here on Atharim business, he intended to stay for his own reasons. And that meant playing nice with Ethan.

Hayden knew that Ethan was stay in the Moscow house, but he didn't want to go there and let everyone else know he was in town. His father knew. He knew everything. Well maybe not everything, maybe not the reason he stayed in Moscow -- it was more than that's where Nox landed as his mark. And if the other night wasn't an indicator to things, well... he was pretty sure everyone in the world figured out things Hayden didn't want to admit to.  There was more ot it than a simple relationship he liked.

Instead Hayden asked to meet his brother at Sebastian House, not their home, not Ethan's place of work, but the actual bar that sold only the highest quality liquor. No beer on tap, only hard liquor and typically only Sebastian House labels or their subsidiaries.  Or those that paid the price to make it into their well known establishments around the world.  The one in Moscow happened to be on the ground floor where Ethan stayed, and it wasn't early morning nor too late. But it was a drink in the middle of the day.

Hayden't didn't dress up to meet his brother in the high end bar mostly to piss him off, instead choosing to wear all black with a leather jacket instead. It was professional and neat, but he wasn't going to dress up in a monkey suit for a drink with his brother.

Hayden was early and he expected Ethan to be late.

Ethan Sebastian

It was a round about way to find out his little brother was in town. It wasn't that Hayden had told him. Or even his father, who apparently knew. His father had replied "It's none of your business when it's Atharim business." But Hayden had opened a bar in the Red Light District. Safe Haven or some bullshit like that, another Atharim safe house without all the weapons and gear, just a safe place to spend the night. His father didn't care, Hayden wasn't a great business man, but ran several bars around the world and usually lived above all of them when he was in town.

Hayden had forsaken the name running away from what father had wanted. But he was still in his good graces and Ethan hated him for it. He got everything he wanted and then some and Ethan had to work for every drop of respect. Their father had always loved Hayden more. Even Mia and Ivy saw it, though they loved their little brother.

A meeting ran late, and then there was an emergency phone call and lunch came later than usual. Ethan was more than an hour late and when he called down to the Sebastian House to check if Hayden were still there he was surprised to find that he was sitting at the bar chatting it up with the bartender when he wasn't busy.

Ethan rolled his eyes and pulled on his coat jacket then headed down stairs via the eleveator. It wasn't long before he was waltzing up to his brother "Brother."

"Ethan, nice of you to show up."

"Some of us have jobs."

Some people gawked at having mid-afternoon drinks but for Anita it was just a thing of scheduling. Some days after a rough day, you just wanted a drink. The Sebastian House was a favorite of the MFD, so often after shifts they would go there to hang out before going home. The night before had been pretty crazy with lots of calls. Everything from lift assists to cardiac arrest. It had been a long night.

Anita had come alone, and she planned to stick around a bit. She was nursing the same drink make had bought a half hour ago. Maybe she’d find someone to go home with. She didn’t know. Whatever happened happened. A gentleman had been talking to the bartender since she had arrived, and their discussion had stopped so he could take her order. She hadn’t needed more, so they had gone back to their conversation.

Another man entered and began speaking to the customer. They orobabky knew each other and had set up a meeting. Their business was none of hers. So she turned back to her drink. Maybe more would come soon. She was in the mood to socialize, which was strange after seeing a night of sick people, but that was her life. And for the most part she enjoyed it.

Hayden shook his head. He would never win with his brother. "I have plenty of jobs. Just none you approve of."

Ethan frowned. "What are you doing here Hayden? You have no business here in Moscow. Father won't like this."

Hayden shrugged. "He already knows. I'm working with Zef watching an Atharim mark, so I'm doing my job."

"Buying booze doesn't sound like an Atharim job."

"Not that I need to explain it to you, but it is when he takes up residence two doors down, works another three."

Ethan rolled his eyes. "Why are you here?"

"Just wanted to let you know I was here and that I'm not going anywhere anytime soon."

"I don't need your help here."

"Not here to help you. Not here for you at all. You are just an annoying footnote in my biography."

Ethan hated to be down talked and he slammed his feet on the ground and almost his glass, but the fine crystal he drank from and this was his bar. Ethan growled. "Just stay out of my way." Ethan stormed away grumbling under his breath.

Hayden tipped is hand for another drink after downing the one he had. "Better than I expected."

The two in conversation certainly didn't mind airing their dirty laundry in public. Words like "Atharim" and "Mark" caught her attention, and it seemed strange to the paramedic that they would just haphazardly say it. Atharim was particularly dangerous in these times, but truth be told, Anita knew little about them. Some sort of secret society going up against magic users. Shit was getting weird out there.

But is was the older one who had a tantrum and left. That was sort of surprising. There was definitely a familiarity between the two men and she was willing to bet they were related. The other, the same person who had been here when she arrived, ordered another drink. She gave him a look, her eyes appraising and curious, and her lips curled up at his last spoken sentence.

"That was better than expected, huh?" she asked with a smirk. "I wonder what things are like when you really let loose."

She turned to the bartender. "That drink's on me," she said with a smile, turning towards the gentleman. "Sorry, didn't mean to overhear that, but it was hard not to."

Hayden chuckled. "There was no yelling, that's usually par for course with my brother. That was nothing." He smiled at the lady down a few seats. "Hayden Sebastian, that was Ethan Sebastian. Sorta his place. But not really."

Hayden tipped his drink to her "Thanks for the drink." He moved down to sit next to her, hoping that at least it wasn't rude at this point in their conversation. "Heated conversation are the usual around the family table. I'm sorry you had to witness it."

So they were related. Anita gestured towards the chair as he approached, a signal that he was welcome to join her. After all, she was here to be social. "Well if it's sort of his place, perhaps we should put our drinks on his tab. Piss him off a little more. And you're very welcome for the drink. It looked like you needed it." she grinned mischievously and took a drink of her whisky.

Anita waited for him to get settled. "Anita Raikov," she offered her hand in introduction. "And don't worry about the heated discussion. I've seen the whole spectrum of it. Add in the aspect of one of them is potentially dying and it puts a whole other spin on." She leaned in to explain. "I'm a paramedic."

She took another sip of her whisky, finishing the glass and asked the bartender for a refill. The guy who "owned" the place seemed to be a dick, but the Sebastian label made amazing whisky.

Hayden shook his head. As tempting as it might be he didn't really want Ethan pissed at him. "Running up Ethan's tab is not a good idea. I really don't want him pissed at me. We just don't get along, never have." For obvious reason, but he didn't say anything like that.

A paramedic huh? She must have lots of stories. "Well, I don't normally like to air dirty secrets to my brother's patrons. I'm really just a bartender."

"No near death tonight. I can't make any promises. I could get a call that all shit broke out. I bet you got a lot of stories to tell."

Anita laughed. "I was kidding. I won't cause any more strife between you and your brother." Seh was grateful she at least had a good relationship with her brother. They should really do something sometime. She wondered how his channeling was coming along. He was still working at the Burlesque club.

"Well if you're a bartender, I'm sure I'll see you again sometime. We tend to go to bars a lot. You know - drunk people get stupid and do stupid shit." she chuckled. "And yeah, I have lots of stories. I can't go too in depth but in general we have our "normal calls," stupid calls, and just plain tragic ones. Normal ones would be your lift assists, someone fell and broke a bone, allergic reaction. The stupid ones are when she learn how stupid people can get, and then the scary shit. And with all the magic stuff going on, it's all changing. Had a woman saw something trying to drink blood out of another's throat. Another girl with all the symptoms of being drugged and no trace of drugs in her system."

Anita took another swig of her drink, this one longer. "I'm sorry, went a little dark there for awhile. Those are the ones that stick with you the most - those and the really bad ones." She leaned forward, allowing herself to smile. "The stupid ones though...you wouldn't believe how many people magically fall on cucumbers while they're naked...it's astounding. Thankfully - I'm not a doctor - no extractions for me."

Hayden laughed. "You probably won't be to my bar. I got pocket healers around the corner and the trouble that comes to my bar doesn't want official attention."

She told her stories and Hayden sighed. "That last one actually ended up at my door. A friend of a friend's sister and I got called in as a friend of that same friend to help with the situation." There was a little bit of brag in his voice. That he'd been called. And it wasn't really about the booze, he knew why he'd been called for any of the fall out.

Hayden lauged "I think I'd be more interested in why they think lightbulbs are okay."
