Cali had been musing aloud rather than being serious, but when Liam took up the line of thought her interest was genuinely piqued. She found the idea excited her, and for now Nora was completely forgotten. She leaned in, voice low, eyes shining bright. “It was one of the rituals,” she said. “A sound bath. It’s one I’ve done plenty of times before, but this time was the only time that happened.” She didn’t add the details of Samiel’s presence, the vision she had seen, or how it might have been the reason for the difference. Cali had thought a lot about that, but she’d not shared the suspicion with anyone. Not even Quillon. Because she found Samiel oddly fascinating, but he also made her uneasy. Even speaking his name felt weirdly like a dangerous summoning.
She smiled widely at the suggestion. Their father would be angry if he discovered Liam had visited the Sanctuary, though she imagined he would not exactly be pleased to know his son was hanging around a strip club either. Cali had never tried to tempt him into visiting her – they always met somewhere neutral, but neither would she turn away the opportunity to show off her home. She was also keen to see more of her little brother’s life; the people he called friends. “We are definitely doing that,” she laughed, and wrapped her hands back around her mug.
