Ice Skating (Romani Carnival)

[Anna]

Anna wasn’t surprised at Cade’s reaction, even if his immediate dismissal poked her in the wrong way. Anna didn’t refute him though. She didn’t want to argue with him about it. If he was meeting Nox, he’d likely learn from his brother. Nox, like Elyse, hunted monsters too. Instead she changed the subject.

”Im sorry I freaked out back there. Thank you for taking care of me,” she said, calming down a little bit. She ordered a black coffee when the waitress took their drink orders. ”Are you doing okay?”

Anna’s attention was drawn to the TV as the newscaster spoke. The banner below the caster sharing the headline “Two Shots Heard Round The World”

Anna listened to ”At 12:34 PM DC time, 8:34 PM Moscow time yesterday, US President Frederick James Dawson and Vice President Colonel Track Palin were assassinated in simultaneous and unprecedented attacks. Details on the attacks remain scarce as investigators…” Anna tuned it out, but sat stunned. Shit was getting real in the US it seemed.

[Cade]

"I'm alright. You have every right to react the way you did. Death is not a pretty subject and definitely not the first time and like that."

Cade watched the TV in shock. He'd have to call his parents to see how they were doing. It had to be utter chaos back there.

"I think the world is much darker than anyone really knows. Creatures, assassinations, the sickness..." There as a lot more going on and Cade wasn't sure he wanted anything to do with it. But he wanted to help where he could. Maybe he'd apply at the WHO it wasn't really his calling but maybe...

[Anna]

"Yeah," Anna said, her looked concerned. "Everything seems to be getting darker. Hopefully the darkness before the dawn. Gonna call my parents tonight...make sure they're okay." she said. Then she'd need to call Elyse too - maybe ask her about the monster. If Elyse could handle it anyways. She was really struggling and Anna made sure to contact her every night.

"I remember when I got sick - it was horrible." she shivered at the thought of her first semester in college. She had been sick so much.

Obviously it was easy for some to survive others not so much. He wondered if that was a path he wanted to follow to see kids die because there was no way to stop it.

Cade sat and chatted with Anna until she felt ready to be alone. It might never happen but he didn't think it was a good idea to more than see her home.
