Early Life

Sura Belaria was born in Seandar. Her father, forming a relationship with a member of the High Blood, was raised to the Low Blood, so growing up, she lived a life of relative ease. As a child, she wanted for nothing, and focused on learning and scholarship. She dedicated herself to serving the Empire.

At age 16, when the Sul’Dam came to test girls for the ability to channel. When Sura was tested, it was determined she could channel. She was taken away from her family to become damane.

Training as Damane

Sura was handed over to to the sul’dam Zurafai Niele who changed her name to Nima. Despite her dedication to the Seanchan empire, Nima struggled with her change in station. Zurafai was a patient teacher, knowing when to push her or remind her of her place within the Empire. With patience and Nima’s own desire to serve the Empire, Zurafai was successful in her endeavors to train Nima into an exemplary damane. Zurafai was required to train other damane, and Nima was moved to another sul’dam, but her teachings stayed with Nima, and she served with diligence.

The Correne

When the Empire crossed the sea for the Correne, Nima was sent to fight. As they crossed over to Tanchico, at the behest of her sul’dam, she channeled, killing in the ensuing battle. Her duty to the Empire the foremost in her mind, she tried to hide her feelings of guilt, instead focusing on her duty. In time, the guilt subsided, and she continues to serve the Empire as a model damane.
