WoT season 2 (general spoilers)

Now that the writers have reached a deal on the strike action, Rafe et al are doing AMAs again, for anybody interested.

Someone asked about channeling rules, and Sarah Nakamura replied the following which clarifies some things.

They must still have some retention of the saidin/saidar divide (to make it necessary for Logain to teach Rand) but that doesn't make it clear if sensing use of the one power is universal rather than gender specific. So I wonder if a channeler can sense any active channeler but only see the weaves for their own side of the power. I wouldn't mind that as a change actually.

Rafe did a Q&A today on twitter now that the writer's strike is over. FINALLY
  • He answered some direct questions about the show's mechanics around the OP, etc.
  • He mentioned how damaging the writer's strike was because they couldn't advertise/promote the show.
  • The scene for ep 7 he thinks the fans will love is: "cat crosses the courtyard.
  • Mat has a scene in ep 8 that "brings happy tears to his eyes"
  • He thinks Ep 7 will push some buttons because it has some of the most iconic scenes in the books mixed with the storytelling required for the show-version of the story.

There's more. Those are just some of what he said.
