Casey Bennett
Early Life

Casey grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee to an Evangelical Christian family. Her parents loved her, but they were emotionally distant. Growing up, Casey’s faith was very important to her, but as she aged she began to question it as it continually made her feel guilty. Her parents, blaming a lot of her confusion on sin, weren’t helpful in guiding her through her changes.
Orchestra and Strange Dreams
When Casey was ten, the middle school orchestra came to her class to talk about joining the orchestra. Casey was enamored by the “big violin” and with her parents permission began to learn how to play the string bass. Music would become a place of solace for her – her one constant as she was growing up.
During this time, Casey began to experience strange dreams. She only knew that these dreams felt incredibly real and they left her uneasy. When she asked her mother about them, she was told that those dreams were from the devil and it meant she was in sin. Not having done anything wrong, Casey was confused at what was happening and it was the beginning of her questioning her faith.

High School
High school was a turbulent time for Casey as she began to grow and increasingly question the faith she was raised in. In one instance, she ran across a teenage boy beating up another. Feeling compelled to act, Casey intervened. When the bully pushed her, she pushed back and channeled for the first time. Scared she was a witch, she kept silent about this. A couple of weeks later, she got a massive headache. Her mother brushed it off and sent her to school with some pain killers, but it wasn’t enough. The sounds of the orchestra and bright lights caused it to hurt so bad that she began to cry and was sent home.
Music was still her solace, and when the choir teacher asked her to play bass guitar for the Vocal Jazz Combo, she jumped on the opportunity. She had purchased a bass guitar a couple of years before and had been experimenting. It was a chance to learn more music and she couldn’t wait.
Casey’s life began to change dramatically her senior year when she was asked to go to the prom by two individuals. The first was a friend from her church named Alex and the second was a girl from Orchestra named Karrie. Karrie’s invite came with a kiss. What scared Casey was that she had liked the kiss and realized that she would much rather go with Karrie than Alex, but she had no choice. She couldn’t go with Karrie because her parents wouldn’t approve. Realizing she was bisexual, Casey began to question her church’s teachings more. She hadn’t chosen any of this, so she began to question all the guilt she felt, eventually coming to the conclusion that she no longer fit in.

College and Cadence Mathis
College gave her the perfect opportunity to step away and evaluate everything. She stepped away from evangelical Christianity, and is uncertain on how she feels about it in general. College life also brought her into contact with Cadence Mathis, a relationship that would completely change her life. Cadence was her college roommate and they would grow close through the years becoming not only friends, but emotional supports for each other.

While in college, Casey would channel again. Both times someone else was in danger. Casey felt a need to intervene both times, and her power once more showed itself. As happened the first time she channeled, Casey got sick, and through looking through her diary put together the pieces that her illness was connected to her magic. During the third instance, She was able to embrace her power and was then able to prevent the sickness. Yet she still found herself unable to embrace the power at will.
As they neared graduation, Cadence informed Casey that she had acccepted a record deal and wanted Casey to be involved. Casey agreed and joined Cadence’s band as her bass guitarist and band leader. Their first album and tour would change their lives forever.
