Valeis Juneau Pashessa

Valeis was a prominent Aes Sedai in the Age of Legends whose infamy came to the fore during the Collapse. Even prior she was a divisive persona, outspoken and forceful on the subjects which drew her focus. At the apex of her career she was a political titan who was heavily involved in the governance of Paaren Disen, and frequently liaised with the Rods of Dominion who were appointed to lead the other districts. She had an effortlessly confident manner and a drive to see things done, which she used to ruthlessly cut down opponents and those who she felt wronged her – all with a statesman’s smile. But she was also fiercely loyal, both to those she loved, and to the city she came to view as her own. Though she married and had children during her long tenure of service, little is known about them. Her relationship with the Dragon was oftentimes tense, for while she respected his title and would ultimately obey, her vision for the future ever clashed with his. He once remarked that Valeis always kept him on his toes, but he’d have it no other way.
For a time, Lilis Moiraim was among her staff, though it’s unlikely Valeis would have known her name. Still, it was Valeis who almost caught her in the act of sabotage and caused Lilis to orchestrate a mass transport incident in order to escape.

Valeis was a staunch ally of the Light during the War of Power, and for a time appeared to lay aside her occasional disagreements with the Dragon in order to support him voraciously. At least until they lost control of the city which housed the Choedan Kal. It was Latra who had first opposed the Dragon in the Hall, and Valeis who spoke against her, but the schism created that day never healed. Latra vowed to make it impossible for The Dragon to enact his plan by winning every woman with strength to her side. And when the Keys were lost to the Shadow’s advance, loyal Valeis finally agreed to the Fateful Concord.
She was blindsided when the Dragon took his Hundred Companions and tried to seal the Bore anyway – never imagining he would be so foolish. In the ruined world that was left once the Madness began to steal away the minds of the male channelers, she continued to rise in importance, forefront among the voices who spoke to organise and rally those left to pick up the pieces. Her notoriety, at least during her own lifetime, rivalled that of the Dragon. War, and the power which came with it, suited her well. But in history her legacy of leadership, her accomplishments and victories, were ultimately eclipsed by the man who came before her.
