Zoradin Fel
Facts

Nationality: Altaran
Age: 45
Association: Asha’man of the Black Tower
Appearance: Zoradin has dark hair with hazel eyes and a lean, but athletic build. He keeps his hair short. He is usually clean shaven, but will sometimes sport a well trimmed beard. Constantly exhausted, his posture is usually slumped and he has a tired look in his eyes. Besides this, he usually looks very presentable.
Personality: As a child Zoradin was very personable and cheerful. As an adult that has shifted and he has become increasingly more reclusive and morose due to his night terrors. He is a man of habit and routine, following the same routine day after day. Terrified of sleeping, he stays awake constantly, only falling asleep if pushed hard to or until he can’t stay awake anymore. He spends his nights doing whatever he can to stay awake. This is the time when he will shave, cut his own hair, or clean and press his Asha’man uniform. Besides his tired look and posture, his appearance is impeccable. He tends to be irritable – and becomes more irritable the longer he stays awake.
Skills
Swordsmanship: Having trained from a young age, Zoradin is an excellent swordsman, even in his exhausted state. Before the taint began affecting his sleep, he was well on his way towards earning a heron-marked blade.
Channeling: A jack-of-all-trades but a master of none, Zoradin is able to do most weaves in an effective way. He does, however, have a minor talent for healing.
Early Life

Zoradin was born in Ebou Dar and the son of an Altaran soldier. His mother was kidnapped when he was very young. She was never found and is presumed to be dead. His father raised him the best he could and taught him the sword from a young age. He showed an aptitude for the blade and this was encouraged by his father. It was assumed Zoradin would follow in his father’s footsteps and become a soldier.
Zoradin never knew his father was able to channel. His father hid it well, but was discovered by the Dragon Reborn as he was building the Black Tower. At age 15, Zoradin followed as his father went to the Farm and began to learn how to harness his gifts. Zoradin served there as he could, but also made time to practice the sword with others there, further honing his sword skills.
Acceptance at the Black Tower
At age 18, Zoradin was tested and found that he also was able to channel. He began his training at the Black Tower. His father was of Asha’man rank, so Zoradin did not see him often as he was usually sent away to fight. He watched as some of the men around him began to exhibit symptoms of the taint, and was sure the same was happening to his father. It worried him, but he felt he knew his duty. He had to continue to train regardless.
Zoradin would receive word later that his father died in a battle, but he never knew which one. He continued to train, dedicating his life to the Tower that his father held so dear. It felt the appropriate way to honor him, and ultimately, he wanted to serve. He wanted to protect those who needed it.
He proved his worth and received both the Sword and Dragon Pins in 12 years at the age of 30.
The Touch of the Taint

The taint of Saidin had its effect on Zoradin as well. It started with disturbing dreams. He would often wake up scared and unsure of where he was. As he channeled more, they increased in frequency and intensity. By the time of the cleansing, they had escalated to night terrors that occurred any time he fell asleep. As a result, Zoradin is terrified of sleeping and will often stay awake for days at a time. Even when he does sleep a full night’s rest is rare as he often wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. He is unable to fall asleep again after waking up in this way.
