That's a great start. Many of our characters are reborn from the 3rd age. So there are many themes like that. May are also reborn from other ages and were former gods... ie: Aries, Thor, Isis, Coyote, I'd give you an Aztec god but omg I would never be able to spell it off the top of my head, we even have a Malecifent variant here.

Have you thought about what her abilities are? Is she a healer, deal with compulsion, a prophet type sort, or is she off the wall type with an innate ability with fire or earth not akin to women?

We can help hook her into an existing plot or come up with something brand new too. (and it might inspire thal or i to another character to build onto... not that we need another one)

And if you don't know what something means, just ask. I try to remember what it's like being new and give you layman's terms but sometimes it's hard to remember what you may not know that is common for me.

The bigger threads might also be overwhelming because of the sheer number of characters in them, especially as you won't know who everyone is yet. Masquerade and House Party both have a lot going on, and some of it relies on the context of other threads. Most threads have fewer participants and can be as simple as two characters meeting for the first time. If you just want a general read I would either have a look at some of the current threads (you can tap view today's posts or press the search button to bring up a list) or just have a rummage around the general Moscow board and see what catches your eye.

Don't worry about trying to read a thread if it's not gelling for you. It's not all politics and crime syndicates I promise

When I started I found the modern setting a big change that took a while to get my head around, I was used to 3rd Age WoT or general fantasy forums too. From what you said in your first post, if you are feeling a similar way to how I did then my advice would be to not get too caught up on the details of it being the "real" world. I felt I was going to get stuff "wrong" but this is still a fantasy world. So long as you've looked at the info on the main site you'll be fine. As Nox said, this rp has been going for over a decade and the lore is always expanding - no one expects you to read and remember it all, so definitely don't stress about anything like that. Come join us when you're comfortable and ready but don't pile on any unnecessary pressure. We all do this for fun

As an aside, the reason I like coloured dialogue is just for ease of reading. When I write a response it helps me to make sure I haven't missed anything, and sometimes I need to refer back quickly to how something was phrased. The colours make it easy to find especially of it's a long post.

hehe. Honestly if I'm not paying attention to a thread I only read the dialog. and the colors definitely help with that. Like the masquerade thread, if I wasn't part of the interactions I only read the dialog.

so yeah ideas. So green ajah means battle weaves. So she's being used by someone as an assassin, or a like a bomb threat. Her sparked weave could be one that killed someone by crushing their heart or drowning them.

I don't have any pcs who would use her in a past tense sorta way. Zef would definitely utilize someone who could kill for her who is a god, but she's only just started looking for those people.

I am sure Vaia Plus could use a person like that no matter what abilities you choose to have exploited. And a good reason to jump into that particular abuser is that in the not so distant future (game wise probably could be a decade away real time) is that Nox is planning on destroying Vaia Plus and she'd be freed of her obligations.

Actually, you have no idea how much the Supernatural comparison helped just now.  I love that show!  lol  And thank you for those summary points as well.  While I don't understand 100% of them yet, it's a great starting point.  I felt like there were two wires in my brain that just refused to connect, but I think you may just have done it. 

As for my character, I have a main one that has followed me since the early 2010s, and she's kind of grown with me.  I'd like to make her as "another thread in the Pattern" so to speak.  She always starts out as a Seanchan damane who has been rescued by an Aes Sedai and is training in the Tower.  My vague idea for her here is that she'd survive her channeling sickness, then be used by someone around her for her abilities by blackmail or financial means or something.  I don't know about details or where to stick her yet, but that's what I've got so far.

If it's helpful, one of my characters was also originally a former damane who I translated over to FA from an old character. In fact she has some other past lives through the various Ages now, because I like writing up past lives lol (you'll find a ton of that kind of stuff on the wiki). Once I figured out what in the FA setting could provide the same pressures for her, the bio clicked for me. And as Nox said, though we mainly write in the First Age, a character can have other rebirths in other Ages. Some characters are tied to real world mythology. So your 3rd Age character and whoever she becomes in the 1st Age can literally be the same soul.
