Elyse Andersen

Early Life

Elyse was born into an Atharim family in Helsingør, Denmark. Raised with a combination of traditional education and training in the ways of the Atharim, her family played significant roles in her upbringing. Her mother, a researcher and planner, and her father, a hunter, initially believed Elyse would follow in her mother’s footsteps. However, they soon realized her aptitude for hunting and redirected her training in that direction. Under her father’s guidance, she learned to use firearms, knives, and crossbows, with a strong focus on careful planning and utilizing all available resources. This training instilled a deep respect for strategic thinking and teamwork.

Becoming Wolfkin

At the age of eighteen, the same year she received her tattoo, Elyse began experiencing strange, recurring dreams. Initially dismissing them as typical dreams, she soon grew concerned when the dreams began happening almost every night. In these dreams, wolves were present, and she found herself hunting alongside them, pursuing creatures she had fought while awake. Eventually, Elyse came to realize these dreams were connected to something more profound when she saw golden eyes staring back at her in the mirror.

She immediately sought out colored contact lenses to conceal the golden hue in her eyes, knowing her parents, being from a conservative Atharim branch, would consider her a threat if they discovered her true nature. She then started researching Wolfkin, learning that they could sense wolves, communicate with them in some way, and often saw them in their dreams. Wolfkin, according to Atharim teachings, were considered dangerous and were often linked to werewolf legends of people who had lost their sanity. The realization that she was Wolfkin raised significant questions for Elyse about the nature of the Atharim’s teachings and the role of gods in her life.

Struggling With Identity

Elyse struggled to reconcile her identity as a Wolfkin with the worldview her parents had instilled in her. While the Atharim regarded wolfkin as monsters, Elyse did not see herself that way. She began to question whether gods were inherently evil or if, like her, they had the potential to become monstrous but still had the ability to choose their path. Elyse resolved to keep her secret, at least for the time being, as she continued to work within the Atharim, hoping to find a way to help the organization evolve and understand those like her.

Over the next few years, Elyse continued to live among the Atharim, maintaining her secret while hunting alongside her father. She learned to use her Wolfkin abilities subtly, relying on her enhanced senses without alerting her father. At times, she even communicated with the wolves, who dubbed her “Silent Fang” due to her preferred weapons: a silenced pistol and a crossbow. It was the wolves who eventually led her to another Wolfkin

The Wolf In The Cage

One night, the wolves informed Elyse of a man who had been trapped and caged by a mysterious figure. When Elyse arrived at the location, she found the man—golden-eyed and disheveled—pacing inside the small cage. The sight of him, so similar to her own potential future, filled Elyse with sorrow. The man, now more wolf than human, looked up at her with confusion, tilting his head in a gesture of questioning. Elyse, feeling empathy, decided to free him. After skillfully unlocking the cage, she watched as the man, or rather, the wolf, fled into the forest.

Departure For Moscow

Weeks later, Elyse’s parents visited her apartment and remarked on the changes they had noticed in her over the years. Fearing they had discovered her secret, Elyse was surprised when they suggested she leave Denmark to work with the Atharim in Moscow. Her parents had noticed the shifting world dynamics and believed her skills would be valuable in the changing landscape. After much thought, Elyse agreed, knowing that the work would be dangerous but seeing it as an opportunity to continue her mission in a new environment.

Elyse bid farewell to her parents and departed for Moscow, hoping to find allies who might understand her plight. The world was changing, and Elyse knew she had to evolve along with it. She understood the risks but was determined to find a way to help the Atharim change for the better while protecting those who might be like her.

Meeting Nox Durante, Sierra Lupita, And Finding Kallisti

Shortly after arriving in Moscow, Elyse would get in touch with Nox Durante through text messaging. He was another Atharim hunter, and she had questions regarding monsters in the underground city. They would spend more time flirting then actually talking about the monsters, but eventually, the pair would hunt together and would survive only after Nox used his god powers to protect them.

Nox’s secret revealed, he worried that Elyse would turn him in. She promised not to and revealed her own secret in return. Eventually the two would enter a romantic relationship which would end in when Nox cheated on her with Jay Carpenter. Hurt, Elyse moved in with another wolfkin she had met in the wolf dream: Sierra Lupita.

Sierra would help her understand her abilities more. While out hunting, the pair would meet Enrique Salguero and Marta Gonzalez, who had just started showing her own wolfkin abilities. The pair would take Marta under her wing and help her learn her abilities. Eventually, Elyse would begin to develop feelings for Sierra, in which she discovered that she had attractions to both men and women. They shared a kiss before Sierra left on a photography expedition in Norway.

Elyse would become a bit lost after Sierra left, and eventually found her way to Kallisti House of Burlesque. She met Mae Kawata there who eventually encouraged her to apply as a dancer. Elyse reunited with Nox, and the two patched up their differences and entered a friendship. Elyse and Mae would start a romantic relationship.

Elsa’s Death & Depression

While with Nox, Elyse had confided her wolfkin abilities to her mother, Elsa. Unwilling to hide herself anymore, Elyse decided not to take Elsa’s advice and come home. Peter, her father, would question Elyse’s silence, and Elsa would give up her knowledge of Elyse’s abilities. In accordance with Atharim Law, Peter condemned Elsa as a traitor and killed her before putting a contract out on Elyse. Elyse was notified by Sage Parker of the contract and that Nox would take care of it. Mae would take a large role in helping Elyse come to terms with her emotions, causing Elyse to declare her love for Mae. Mae didn’t reciprocate and the pair broke up. In despair of her mother’s loss, the lack of acceptance of her father, and the break up with Mae (even if it was amicible) Elyse fell into a deep depression, bringing about thoughts of self harm. Now she waits for her father to find her or for Nox to find him.
