Don't feed the Ashtaroth!

Ascendancy Wrote:I totally didn't spy that the Amyrlin sitting on the Seat was in red. So it makes sense that it's Elaida. The girl in white on the arm chair looked like she had the Wisdom's belt on and long dark hair, which was why I thought it was Nyn. However, she resembles the same woman in white (long dark hair, white dress) standing to the right of Siuan in Egwene's Arches scene. That person should be the mistress of novices, but I don't seem Sheraim there. Therefore, it could be Alvairin as she is part of the plot pre-coup to get close to the Amyrlin and report back to Elaida.

No me either. But zooming in on that frame it totally looks like Shohreh Aghdashloo's profile to me. They were sneaky since the voice over at that point of the trailer is Siuan.

I actually thought that the white outfit looked a lot like Lanfear's, initially. But I couldn't think of a reason for her to be in that scene with Elaida. I was thinking today, though, that it might actually be simpler for the show to just have Lanfear pulling the strings rather than setting up a new character in Alviarin. I doubt we'll get Mesaana, and we already know that Liandrin reports to Lanfear anyway. The last time we saw Siuan she was left behind with Lanfear so it'd be pretty easy for her to set into motion the Amyrlin's flall, she's basically already giftwrapped. I wonder if in the show it'll be Lanfear who sets up the Tower coup via manipulation of Elaida, particularly if it turns out that shot is from a dream. I hope they don't make Elaida a DF and the manipulation is subtler than that, though I could see it going that direction for simplicity. Lanfear offering Elaida the Amyrlin Seat so she can be the one to apprehend the Dragon, the same way Liandrin was manipulated by love for her son.

That's an interesting theory, Thal! It would make sense to use the bad guy already established. I kinda hope they use another baddie though, even if it's not Alvairin (I cannot remember how to spell her name) to manipulate Elaida. They're doing a good job with giving the bad guys good motives and depth, I would be okay if they continue it. The woman sitting on the edge of the Amyrlin Seat is kind of odd to me, though. I can't imagine Elaida allowing that in waking life, but it does seem like something Lanfear would do in TAR.

Yeah, the woman sitting on the side of the throne like that is definitely odd, and I agree it's not something book Elaida would allow. Plus the way Elaida is looking at her in that shot too -- she appears to be paying avid attention. Didn't she have a touch of foretelling in the books? Maybe a dream will replace that somehow -- set Elaida on the path instead.

EDIT to add. Min spoke with Ishy in the dream regarding a deal to manipulate the boys, but wasn't a DF. So maybe they will do something like that in the show. Not make Elaida a DF, but have her manipulated by Lanfear.

I dunno. Watch him in White Lines and tell me you're not a fan. He does smouldering charm very well. Plus the Portuguese accent. I'm totally sold.

EDIT: you know what, our version of the Forsaken is so ingrained I temporarily forgot Raviel isn't, you know, Raviel Tongue
